What is Somatic Psychotherapy?
Healing Trauma Through the Body, Mind and Emotions
Trauma isn’t just a story from the past — it’s a living pattern held in your body, emotions and nervous system. Somatic Psychotherapy offers a path home to yourself: an integrative approach that weaves together Relational and Depth Psychotherapy, Inner Child Work and Somatic Therapy to support healing on every level — emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual.
This work restores balance to the nervous system, awakens emotional flow and integrates the many parts of self into a state of inner harmony and wholeness.
Relational Psychotherapy
At the heart of this work is relationship. Healing unfolds in the relational field — through presence, attunement, and genuine human connection.
Relational Psychotherapy explores the unconscious patterns we formed in early relationships — the ways we learned to protect, please, or withdraw to stay safe. These patterns often reappear in adulthood, shaping how we relate to ourselves and others.
In Somatic Psychotherapy, these dynamics aren’t only understood — they’re experienced and transformed within a safe, attuned therapeutic relationship. Presence itself becomes the medicine: the nervous system learns that connection can be safe, and new patterns begin to form.
A key principle in this work is that the therapist must also be engaged in their own inner healing — clearing their own trauma and conditioning so they can meet clients with clear, grounded presence.
That presence — steady, attuned, and unguarded — is the foundation of transformation.
Inner Child Work
Within each of us live younger parts — inner children who carry unmet needs, fear, grief, or longing. Inner Child Work allows these parts to be met, not as abstract ideas, but as living emotional realities in the body.
Through gentle awareness and guided exploration, we reconnect with the parts of you that were unseen or silenced, bringing compassion and understanding where there was once shame or neglect.
As you learn to re-parent these parts from your adult Self, your nervous system registers a new truth: you are safe now.
This process brings emotional regulation, deeper self-trust, and an embodied sense of wholeness.
Somatic Therapy
The body holds everything that words cannot say.
When trauma occurs, the body’s natural protective responses — fight, flight, or freeze — often remain incomplete. Over time, this can manifest as tension, anxiety, dissociation, or chronic dysregulation.
Somatic Therapy brings the body into the healing process.
Through mindfulness, breath, movement, and attuned awareness, you learn to listen to the body’s language and gently release what’s been held.
This isn’t about forcing change; it’s about creating space for the body’s own intelligence to unfold. As the nervous system recalibrates, vitality, safety, and emotional flow naturally return.
The Spiritual Dimension
Somatic Psychotherapy sees trauma healing as part of a larger journey — the awakening of consciousness itself.
Through this work, you learn to cultivate Self as the still witness — the unchanging awareness beneath all experience. This witnessing presence represents the masculine principle, the inner container that holds all that arises with steadiness and clarity.
At the same time, the feminine principle awakens — the nervous system’s capacity to feel, express, and transmute emotional material with fluidity and grace.
As these principles integrate, what was once fragmented becomes whole. Trauma is no longer a wound to be fixed, but a sacred doorway through which awareness deepens and the heart opens.
Healing the nervous system is how the true self learns to live safely in the body.
