The power of inner child work.

Inner child work is a dive into our emotions and subconscious minds and is an effective way to heal our deep rooted difficulties which arise from childhood trauma,

The inner child is made up of patterns of thoughts and feelings which are usually negative and create problems in our lives because this is the part of ourselves we neglect the most. Self love is therefore connected to the inner child and true healing can only occur when we learn to love all parts of ourselves especially our fear, pain, shame and other so called negative emotions.

The relationship we have with our inner child can be quite difficult, it mirrors the relationship we had with our caregivers or people who were part of our lives when we were young such as teachers, child minders etc. The way we were treated often runs parallel with how we treat ourselves as adults. If we were ignored a lot for example we tend to ignore our own needs and feelings as adults which affects our sense of wellbeing and mental health.

As the inner child reflects our trauma we are often resistant to working with that part of ourselves. In therapy we first learn to connect with our adult self and strengthen this part of us so that we feel ready and prepared to do the deeper healing work which involves holding space for our emotions. This work is powerfully transformative if done correctly. Its a journey which takes time but it is an effective way to set yourself free of limiting beliefs so that you can live with more freedom and authenticity.

This type of healing work is for people ready to connect to a deeper level of healing and are prepared to take the risk to step out of their comfort zone to explore and discover parts of themselves forgotten. It takes courage to take this step towards freedom and often comes about when life gets so difficult we feel we have no choice but to do this work.
